- A nationwide social networking campaign aimed at Leave supporters launches this week
- The platform enables Leave supporters to find like-minded people and make new friends after the social backlash from the Brexit vote
- The platform intends to bring people together online & offline to discuss the future of the
UK outside European Union and mend social rifts
Leavers of Britain, an online community hub that allows users to upload, schedule & search pro-Brexit events and social meet-ups, launches this week.
Leavers of Britain will bring Leave-supporters together in public spaces to get active about Brexit and to make new friends. Members can chose to upload a range of events in accordance to their level of commitment, ranging from pub meet ups, coffees, political rallies, leafleting & street stalls on a fun and easy to use website.
Leavers of Britain is the only campaign to address the social ramifications of the Brexit vote.
Director of Leavers of Britain, Lucy Harris said:
“While politicians are concerned about parliamentary vote numbers and the intricacies of the withdrawal agreement , there is a continuing damaging political social divide within our society.
Leavers of Britain intends to bring people together and I feel that in such a socially divisive time in history, an opportunity to talk things through, be heard and let off steam is exactly what we need to mend social rifts.
It’s about time that we made Brexit an opportunity to listen to people who have been dubbed the ‘left behind’ or the average Joe that does the 9-5 and start to include them back into mainstream discussion and society.”
Lucy Harris started the group ‘Leavers of London’ in September 2016 & the group has grown to 1,000 members across London.
